Therapeutic Learning Center
Program Mission & Goals
At Sustainable Family Services, we believe that all children deserve the right to learn and thrive. Some children need more specialized accommodations to ensure they are ready to engage academically, while their social and emotional needs are also being met.
The Therapeutic Learning Center was created after identifying an increased need for quality educational services catered to children who have emotional difficulties and have been unsuccessful in a traditional classroom setting. Our program caters to children Pre-K to 12 who struggle with their behavior, emotions, or social skills. Many of our students have been dismissed or expelled from other schools or programs.
Daily, our students have access to licensed behavior specialists, therapists, and educators who can help them self-regulate, engage with others, and overcome social barriers.
Our Students
The Therapeutic Learning Center at Sustainable Family Services best serves students ages 4-12 who cannot thrive in more traditional classroom settings. We accept children who have been dismissed or expelled from other schools, or those with various learning disabilities. Some of our students may fall on the autism spectrum or have behavioral or developmental disorders.
While we employ quality academic instructors, our primary focus is to surround children with a team of licensed therapeutic professionals to address social, behavioral, emotional, or other difficulties that are preventing children from being successful in their communities or homes. We also work with numerous foster and adoptive families.
Our Program
Each student is unique in their needs. Our intimate classes are instructed by a Lead Teacher, as well as behavior specialists. We have a very small student to adult ratio, allowing for ample opportunity for interventions when needed. This is a home school supplementary program, and parents must register their children with their appropriate county authorities. Our lesson plans are developed around the specific needs and interests of the students; but again, our primary focus is behavioral intervention and equipping children with the necessary coping skills to become a productive, life-long learner.
